Transport & Transfers
Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport also known as Roissy Airport or CDG in the Paris area, is one of the world's principal aviation centres, as well as France's main airport. Created in 1965 it was named after Charles de Gaulle leader of the Free French Forces and founder of the French Fifth Republic. In 2008 over 60 making it the world's fifth busiest passenger airport. In 1976 the airport was the first commercial flight of the Concorde. On 8 March 1974 the airport, renamed Charles de Gaulle Airport, began service.
Terminal 1 was built with an modern design by Paul Andreu of a ten-floor high circular building surrounded by seven satellite buildings each with four gates.
Terminal 2 was built originally exclusively for Air France. Terminal 2G is used for passengers flying in the Schengen Area (and has no passport control). It manages Air France regional and European traffic and provides small capacity planes with a faster turn-around time than is currently possible by enabling them to park close to the new terminal building and boarding passengers primarily by bus, or walk on the ground.
Terminal 3 is primarily for low cost airlines.
CDG Ground Transport & Transfers
RER
CDG airport is connected to Paris by the RER B suburban rail network. There is frequent service to Paris with first stop Gare du Nord. The non stop services takes about 30 minutes. There are two RER B stations inside the airport:
-Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1, located inside Roissypoole (an area with hotels) next to Terminal 3
and is the preferred way to access Terminals 1 and 3;
-Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 - TGV, located under Terminal 2.
In 2015 we are looking forward to the CDG Express link CDG to Paris Gare de l'Est with trains specifically designed for air travelers.
Shuttle between terminals
Terminals 1, 2 (except hall 2G), the Roissypole / Terminal 3 RER station and parking lots PX and PR are connected by the free CDGVAL automatic light rail automated rail shuttle, replacing free shuttle buses.
Bus
Roissybus, operated by RATP, departs from terminals 1 and 2 and goes non-stop to Paris, behind the Opera Garnier.
Train
CDG is connected to Paris, by the RER B trains which run from 5am to midnight. There are Two RER stations at Charles de Gaulle airport:
"Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1" for Terminals 1 and 3 located inside Roissypole next to Terminal 3
"Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2" for Terminal 2 located beside the TGV station under Terminal 2
The fast service take about 30 minutes and non stop to the Gare du Nord, and then in Paris it stop at Chatelet, Saint Michel Notre Dame, Luxembourg, Port Royal, and Denfert Rocherau where you can connect to the local metro. 12 minutes start to finish. The local train take about 10 minutes or so longer. Trains leave every 10-15 minutes so don't wait for the express. Get on the first departure. Cost: 8.50euro or included with a Paris Visit Card for 18.90euro pp for 1 day (probably not the best deal in the world)
Comment: I often take the train and the reality of the time is 1:10 to 1:45 minutes door to door. Keep your ticket as you need it to get out and you can use it to make the transfer to the metro.
Roissybus
A daily bus service every 15-20 minutes between 6am and 11pm to Paris-Place de l'Opera (corner of rue Scribe and rue Auber. Travel time 45 - 60 minutes. Stops : Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Charles de Gaulle. Cost 9.10euro pp
Comment: Never taken it but I am guessing it's a bit more of a hassle if you have to take the metro once you reach Opera.
Air France Coaches
Providing services every 20-30 minutes to Paris. 2 routes serving Charles de Gaulle, Paris (including Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse train stations). Departs every 20 to 30 minutes between 5h45 and 23h The trip takes about 45-60 minutes journey to/from Paris depending on the traffic.
Line 2 CDG < > Paris-Porte Maillot < > Paris-Arc de Triomphe (Place de l'Etoile). 15Euro pp 5:45 to 11pm
Line 4 CDG <> Paris-Gare de Lyon < > Paris-Gare Montparnasse. 19euro pp 7am to 9pm
Fares and tickets
You can buy tickets at Air France coaches ticket counter in Terminals 1and 2 (except 2G) or directly from the driver.
Comment: Takes forever to go to each terminal before finally getting on the way to Paris.

Thanks for the terrific service on 19 & 24 August. Both drivers were excellent. I will certainly book with you next time. Regards, JB
everything went off very smoothly, and in spite of there being an accident on the road out of Paris to CDG on Saturday afternoon, our driver took us by some very complicated alternative route, and got us to the Airport in an hour. Both drivers were very good, and pleasant and the vehicles clean and comfortable. Thank you for all your organisation. The Bateaux Mouches was also a big success. A really beautiful evening weather wise, a very good meal, and delightful service. Again thank you very much for your organisation. If every we return to Paris we will certainly contact you for your able assistance. Kind regards PS
