Printemps: Founded in 1865 has a remarkable feature of the Haussmann store is an elaborate stained-glass cupola above the main restaurant in the store, installed for the 1923 rebuilding. In 1939, to avoid the risk that it would be destroyed in bombing attacks, the cupola was dismantled and stored. A byword for fashion and luxury, this prestigious store boasts 3,000 brands (including 300 exclusive ranges). Its ranges include cutting edge of fashion displayed in a creative setting. Car valet and delivery add to the shopping experience.

Galeries Lafayette : In October 1912, the main store’s inauguration was a major event. The store’s 5 floors, balconies and glass dome were advertised all over Paris. Inspired by a neo-Byzantine style, the 33-meter high glass dome comprises of 10 painted windows encapsulated in rich metallic frames and decorated in a sculpted floral motif. The banisters of the lower floors adorned with leaflet were signed by Louis Majorelle. If for no other reason, it is worth visiting the store just to see the magnificent architecture. (see sliding images) The flagship Haussmann store is as visited as the Eiffel Tower. Even the "greats" of the world shop at Galeries Lafayette: the Duchess of Windsor, the wife of Aga Khan, the Begum, Bill Clinton, and Prince Charles who inaugurated the London exposition. The Galeries offers a wide selection of brands for men, women and children, plus a home decor store (Lafayette Maison) and delicatessen (Lafayette Gourmet).
